DSMA was formed in 2007 as an advocacy group to help the vitality of the City of Sarasota downtown core business area. A collaboration of the 5 downtown merchant/business associations of Main Street, Palm Avenue, Burns Square, Towles Court and Rosemary was put together to work on a common mission to improve the downtown as a whole while respecting and supporting the individual character of each area.
